A)
9 lines spacing
This means your labels are spaced
vertically 9 lines apart and there
is room on a label for 8 lines of
text, with 1 unused line between one
label and the next.
9 or 12 are the two common standard
label spacings.
***
B)
12 lines spacing
This means your labels are spaced
vertically 12 lines apart and there
is room on a label for 11 lines of
text, with 1 unused line between one
label and the next.
9 or 12 are the two common standard
label spacings.
***
C)
Spacing: "Other (enter)"
This means your labels are NOT
spaced vertically 9 or 12 lines
apart: so you may enter the actual
spacing in this gadget. Enter one
more than the number of text lines
that will fit on a label, so
allowing for the 1 unused line
between labels.

D)
1 copy
You want to print just one address
label. When this is printed, the
print head will move down to the
start of the next blank label ready
for further printing. The distance
that it scrolls the labels will be
correct for the spacing you
selected.
***
E)
5 copies
You want to print 5 labels, all for
the same addressee. Make sure you
select the correct vertical spacing
before you start printing!
***
F)
10 copies
You want to print 10 labels, all for
the same addressee. Make sure you
select the correct vertical spacing
before you start printing!
***
G)
Copies: Other (enter)
You don't want to print 1, 5 or 10
labels but some other number - all
for the same addressee. Enter here
the number of copies you do want to
print.
***
H)
EXIT
You want to quit the program
altogether. This button is the
simple way to do it: or you can
click on the close-window gadget in
the top left-hand corner.
***
I)
PRINT
If you click on this button,
printing of labels will start, using
the number of copies & the label
spacing you have selected.
If the printer isn't ready (off
line or out of paper), you will
see a warning message and
printing will not be attempted.
Letter Quality:-
If you have a special font set in
your printer, do NOT choose "Letter
Quality" from the menu or your
printer will use the font selected
in the system Printer Prefs,
regardless of how your printer is
currently set up. Leave the labels
printing set for "Draft Quality".

J)
NEW FILE
This button lets you select a new
data (name & address) file to be
printed. You can then print labels
for someone else.
***
K)
While in HELP mode you can click on
any selection gadget/button to see
an explanation of what it does.
Clicking on the selection displays
will not do anything. They only
show you a confirmation of what you
have chosen.
For a general explanation of this
program please read the document
file LabSelect.doc, which you can do
by clicking on its icon. That file
also explains how to prepare your
address data files.
Note there is a Menu which
includes saving your settings.
Click again on HELP to exit Help.

L)
VIEW
This will show one copy of the
address label you selected, on the
right-hand side of the screen (in
this View window).
Across the top is a scale which
shows you the 'printing offset' you
will get. By moving the 'Print
offset' slider, OR by entering a
value in the number gadget beside
it, you can change the left margin
before printing.
Two horizontal lines represent the
top and bottom edges of your label.
***
M)
PRINT OFFSET
You can alter the left margin of
the address by either sliding the
gadget or entering the desired
offset in the little number box.
If you are viewing your data at the
same time, you will see the text
move sideways to show how it will be
printed relative to the left margin
you set on the printer.
